Weld County Site Selection

Map of Weld County Colorado showing regions

The sheer size and diversity of Weld County at 4,000 square miles allows it to meet almost any type of site requirements.

Possible sites range from North Suburban Denver locations in the south part of the county, to the booming growth of the I-25 Corridor along our western boundary, to the wide open spaces of farmland and prairie in the east and the north.

South Weld County

In the southern area of the county you will find the Denver Suburban/I-25 Corridor. Here there are still large tracts of undeveloped open space for construction, as well as available industrial lots, storage facilities, fully developed shopping malls, established residential areas and readily available services. Railway access is available and Denver International Airport, DIA, is only a short distance away.

South Weld County is an active booming area with all of the perks of living next to the largest city in the Rocky Mountain West. It offers a wide-range of cultural activities, sport venues and easy access to the mountains for skiing, camping, fishing and other outdoor recreational activities.

West Weld County

The western area of Weld County is one of the fastest growing areas of the country. The residential areas have expanded greatly over the last two decades. West Weld County has also seen numerous large industries move in or expand over the past few years and with that comes the growing industrial service sector.

This section of the county is directly adjacent to I-25 which runs south to the Denver area and I-70, and runs north to Wyoming and I-80. I-76 is just to the east running diagonally between Denver and I-80 in Nebraska . This section of the county has vast tracts of land for industrial site location and has numerous established communities for the smaller sites or for retail and business locations.

West Weld County is a pleasant area with wide open spaces where the communities are nestled in amongst large expanses of farm land. It offers an excellent quality of life with plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities, low traffic volume, excellent schools, two state universities, and spectacular mountain views.

East and North Weld County

The eastern and northern areas of Weld County have seen booming oil and natural gas exploration and renewable energy development in the past decade. The Niobrara Shale region to the north is being rapidly expanded as far as exploration and drilling. In addition to the fossil fuel sector there is a rapidly expanding industry with wind and solar power and with biofuel develpment, as well. The 300.5 megawatt wind power installation of Cedar Creek Wind Farm that lies just east of Grover, Colorado has over 250 wind turbines, and is still growing with the development of the Cedar Creek 2 wind Farm.

Eastern and northern Weld County are areas of high-prairie grasslands with farmland, ranches and small rural towns. Oil and natural gas wells dot the landscape. There is easy access to I-80, I-70 and to I-76.
