Enterprise Zones
Colorado's Enterprise Zone program provides a variety of state tax incentives to encourage businesses to locate/expand in designated economically distressed areas of the state including select Weld County communities/locations. Upstate Colorado Economic Development administers the Greeley/Weld Urban Enterprise Zone (EZ).
Companies that locate or expand within the physical boundaries of the EZ (see Maps in the Download Center) are eligible to earn a variety of state income tax credits based on the companies specific activities primarily in equipment investment, job creation/training, research and development activities, etc. Recent legislative changes to the EZ program include a Precertification Requirement effective January 1, 2012 along with implementation of an electronic precertification and certification filing process. Detailed program and tax credit information can be found in the Greeley/Weld EZ Brochure in the Download Center.
Upstate also certifies EZ tax credits for individual/business contributions to approved non-profit agencies and/or projects that play a role in implementing the economic development plan for the Greeley/Weld EZ. A list of eligible Greeley/Weld Contribution Projects can be found in the Download Center.
