Tom Hammerschmidt
is Upstate's Office Manager, joining the organization in December of 2006. In
addition to his office duties, Tom is involved with database
management, the Enterprise Zone Program and Data Center. Tom
also coordinates Upstate's marketing and communications
materials, and maintains the organization's website.

Eric Berglund
Eric is the Vice President – Finance for Upstate serving as
the organizations CFO and administrator for the Weld/Larimer
Revolving Loan Fund and the Greeley Community Development
Fund. His professional background includes over 8
years of commercial lending experience and 10 years as a
licensed real estate agent. In addition to his work at
Upstate, he is active in northern Colorado serving on six
boards or commissions and two leadership programs. He
was recognized by the Northern Colorado Business Report as a
member of the “40 under Forty” in 2008, a listing that
recognizes progressive leaders and emerging business
authorities in the region. Eric is proud to be a CSU
Ram and serving as student body president while attending
Colorado State University.

Cathy Schulte, CEcD is Upstate's Senior
Vice President. A twenty-year employee, Cathy is very
involved with each of Upstate's program efforts, and serves
as Administrator of the Greeley/Weld Enterprise Zone. A
native and life-long resident of Colorado, Cathy is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, where she earned a
journalism degree. She is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD),
and is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute.

Larry
Burkhardt, CEcD
has
served as Upstate's President/CEO since September 2005.
Prior positions include President/CEO of the Nevada County
Economic Resource Council in Grass Valley, California; and
President/CEO of the Economic Development Association of
Longmont, Colorado. He
has published in excess of one hundred articles on economic
development; has hosted weekly radio shows on economic
development in Colorado and California; and has been
retained as a speaker on economic development for many
local, state and national audiences.
Larry
served 11 years on the Longmont, Colorado
City Council--two
years as Mayor, as well as on numerous local, state and
national boards and commissions.

Susan House/strong> is
Upstate's Project Manager. Susan has enjoyed an extremely varied
career; with her first job being at the Pentagon.
Subsequent positions include serving as a Probation
Assistant; an examiner for the Securities & Exchange
Commission, Office of Oil and Gas; a Trade Show Manager for
Space Imaging; and Facilities Manager for Northrop Grumman
in Boulder.
Immediately prior to taking the position of Upstate’s
Campaign Coordinator, Susan was self-employed as a
residential remodeling consultant.
