Relocations & Expansions

Business growth in Weld County has continued at a brisk pace, with first quarter ’06 job growth measured at 4%, compared to the national average of 2.2%--measured by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The following companies made news locally for projects in 2006:

• Arbor Valley Nursery—Lochbuie
Wholesale nursery providing landscaping materials.  Relocation from Adams County—30 new jobs

• BAE Systems—Berthoud/Weld County
Manufacturer of metal containers for defense industry.  Adding production line of welders.  100 existing jobs, 20 new jobs

• Crabtree Brewery—Greeley
Specialty beer brewing and wholesale distribution.  Start up—3 new jobs

• Colorado Premium Foods—Greeley
Value added boxed beef and pork processing.  Relocated from Denver.  105 new jobs

• Design Steel Systems—Nunn
Distribution of steel building packages.  Expanding to 24,000 sq. ft. building in Nunn.  4 existing jobs, 10 new jobs

• Destiny Dairy—Eaton
Goat dairy producing ice cream and yogurt products.  Expanded facilities with Weld/Larimer Revolving Loan Fund support.  2 existing jobs, 10 new jobs

• Empire Warehouse—Frederick
Warehouse/distribution company expanded facility by 10,000 sq. ft.  55 existing jobs, 2 new jobs

• Excelsior Software—Greeley
Software developer purchased ground to construct 26,000 sq. ft. building.  60 existing jobs, 75 new jobs over two-year period

• Front Range Roofing—Greeley
Regional roofing company purchased 28,695 sq. ft. building, representing an expansion.  57 existing jobs

• Greeley Hat Works—Garden City
Hat manufacturer expanded from Greeley building to 5,000 sq. ft. building in Garden City.  4 existing jobs, 1 new job

• Greenlight Energy—Weld County
New 300 mega-watt wind farm that will include 150-225 turbines on 31,000 acres.  Construction to begin in 2007, with 200 construction jobs.  30 new jobs associated with the facility

• Old School Industries—Dacono
Manufacturer of fixtures and stands for microscopes—Expansion from Erie home to 4,500 sq. ft. building in Dacono—4 existing jobs, 1 new job

• Harsh Industries—Eaton
Hydraulic hoist equipment manufacturer.  Equipment expansion of $1.5

• Kendall Printing—Greeley
Commercial printing company added new 10-color printing press and related equipment.  52 existing jobs, 40 new jobs

• Medical Systems of Denver—Frederick
Medical waste sterilization company purchased 20,000 sq. ft. building and expanded equipment with Weld/Larimer Revolving Loan Fund support.  5 existing jobs, 25 new jobs

• Production Control Systems—Frederick
Oil/gas equipment manufacturer and service provider expanding to larger building.  60 existing jobs, 16 new jobs

• StarTec—Greeley
Technical support call center.  Expansion—900 existing jobs, 130 new jobs

• The Bread Board—Greeley
Bakery and restaurant.  Opened new restaurant with Greeley Community Development Fund support.  5 existing jobs, 3 new jobs

• Wood Creek Custom Cabinetry—Frederick
Home-based cabinet and millwork shop expanded to 3,800 sq. ft. industrial building.  1 existing job, 2 new jobs
