Vestas Blades, the world’s leading manufacturer of windmill blades used for the generation of wind power, announced today that they have selected a site in the Great Western Industrial Park in Windsor, Colorado for the location of a production facility that will employ more than 400 people.

“Many partners worked collaboratively to facilitate this important industry location,” said Larry Burkhardt, President/CEO of Upstate Colorado Economic Development, the lead economic development organization working with the company locally. “These partners include the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, Weld County, the Town of Windsor, Weld County Employment Services, Aims Community College and Great Western Development Company.”

Burkhardt added that the project will serve as Vestas’ North American headquarters, and represents an important step toward establishing the Upstate Colorado region as a leader in the emergence of renewable energy as a growth industry.

Vestas Wind Systems A/S is headquartered in Denmark. Upstate Colorado Economic Development staff has been working with Vestas representatives to support this location decision since the summer of 2006.
