While perhaps not able to provide much in the way of sun-bathed winter beaches, the Greeley metro area has found its way onto a newly-published list of top areas for an important retirement living selection criterion--post-retirement employment.

In an article published by MSN Money, Greeley makes a list of the top 25 metro areas in the country for those seeking some sort of job opportunity once they have left their primary career. The list was compiled by Robert Skladany, vice president of research and services at RetirementJobs.com.

Skladany considered a variety of factors in constructing the list, but focused on those geographic areas that were strong on employment growth and the presence of professions that are most accepting of older workers. In particular, he assessed

  • General employment growth, including economic diversity
  • Prevalence of key retirement job opportunities
  • Presence of age-friendly employers
  • Unemployment rate
  • Housing costs
  • General cost of living
  • Health-care services
